Filling:
1 c chipped dates
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 c water
Crust:
1 c flour
3/4 c butter or margarine
1 c brown sugar
2 c oats
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Filling: Bring to boil dates, brown sugar and water. Add more water after it's cooked and mashed so that it spreads easier. Cool.
Crust: Mix flour, baking soda, salt; but in butter. Stir in brown sugar and oats. Spread 1/2 of crumb mix in 8" greased pan. Spread date mix on bottom crust and top with remaining crumb mix. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
