1/4 to 1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 tsp. sugar
2 eggs
8 cups flour

FILLING:
softened butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Mix water, sugar, salt, & shortening. Mix together & allow to cool.
In a small bowl, sprinkle yeast over lukewarm water & sugar. Allow to stand 10 min.
Beat eggs in large bowl. Add the shortening & yeast mixtures to the eggs. Combine. Add flour & knead about 10 min. Allow to rise in large greased bowl for 1 & 1/2 hours. {Cover bowl with plastic & set in warm, not hot, spot to rise.]
Divide dough into two pieces. Roll out each piece to 9x13" size. Spread each with softened butter [ like buttering bread ] and sprinkle with brown sugar walnuts or raisins. Roll up jelly roll fashion [from long side ]. Cut each section into 12 slices. Arrange in 9x13" pan. [ I use glass.] Cover with tea towel & let rise 30-45 min.
Bake in preheated 350º oven for 20 min. When cool ice with thin butter icing.
