2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb. seedless, white raisins
1 lb. large gumdrops [cut up ]
1 cup sweetened applesauce, with pinch salt added
1/2 cup milk
2 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter & sugar. Add eggs & beat well. Add applesauce.
Sift flour,salt, baking powder, nutmeg, & cinnamon. Reserve 1 cup to flour raisins & gumdrops.Add remainder to egg mixture alternately with milk, ending with dry ingredients. Fold in floured raisins & gumdrops. Pour in a greased & floured 8" square baking pan & bake in a slow [300-325º ] oven for 2-2 & 1/2 hours.
