3/4 cup pecan halves
1 1/4 cups unblanched whole almonds
1 cup + 2 T. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
8 T. unsalted butter
1 large egg
3//4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups raisins.

Preheat oven to 375º.
Place pecans on one cookie sheet; almonds on another.
Bake stirring occasionally, for about 7 minutes, or until the nuts begin to have a toasted aroma.
Do not bake until the almond skins begin to crack.
Let cool completely; chop nuts separately in very coarse pieces.
Soften butter in a large mixing bowl; cream sugars and butter until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla until well blended.
In small bowl, sift flour, baking soda and salt.
On low speed, beat in flour mixture into sugar/butter mixture until blended.
In large bowl, stir together chocolate chips, raisins, pecans and almonds.
Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets about 1 1/2" apart.
Bake for 12-15 mins. at 375º or until golden brown and barely soft.
Allow cookies to cool for a few minutes until firm enough to lift to wire racks for cooling.

Alternate Food Processor Method:
In small bowl sift flour, baking soda, and salt.
In processor bowl, process sugars until very fine.
Cut butter into pieces and add to sugar with motor running; process until smooth and creamy.
Add egg and vanilla; process until incorporated, scraping the sides of bowl to blend ingredients.
Add flour mixture; pulse until incorporated; empty into a bowl, mixing chocolate, raisins, pecans, and almonds; mix well.
Bake according to directions above.
