1 cup butter, softened
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 oz. (1/4 cup) semi-sweet chocolate, shaved
1 T. sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 finely chopped dried cherries
2 oz. chocolate + 2 oz. butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300
Mix butter, sugar, almond extract thoroughly, using electric mixer.
Gradually blend flour and cornstarch.
Add cherries and chocolate.
Form into 1-inch balls and place on greased baking sheets.
Pour sugar on a small plate; dip bottom of drinking glass in sugar.
Gently press down on each cookie to flatten.
Bake at 300º for 20-30 minutes or until bottoms begin to brown.
Cool 5 minutes; remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Drizzle: Place 2 oz. chocolate and shortening in a small resealable freezer bag.
Microwave on high for 30 seconds or until melted.
Snip off corner and drizzle over cookies.º
