1 pt. milk
1/2 c. cream
1/4 c. butter
1 pt. oysters
1 tsp. salt
dash of pepper

Heat milk to scalding. Melt butter in saucepan. Add the oysters with the liquid. (I always cut off the hard part of the oysters.)

Cook gently just until the oyster edges curl. Add to milk and cream. Season with the salt and pepper.

I sometimes make this the day before and then put in the crock pot the day of serving. It seems the flavors blend more. I always make this for Christmas Eve. I guess this takes the place for the stalk fish (lute fisk) we used to have when we were growing up.
