"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 eggs beaten at room temperature
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast
1 c. warm water
4 plus c. flour
1/2 c. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Beat together in mixer eggs, sugar, salt and shortening. Add flour (1 c. at a time) alternately with dissolved yeast, to egg mixture. Add enough flour to create soft dough that you can work with. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead 8-10 minutes. Will have to add small amounts flour while kneading to keep it from getting sticky. Adding too much flour will make dough tough. Cover bowl. Let rise in warm place free from draft until double in size (about 1 1/2 hours). Punch dough down. Form into rolls and place in greased pans. Cover pans and let rise again until double. (about 45 min). Bake in pre-heated oven at 400 for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
