1 1/2 lb hamburger
1 onion, chopped
6 cans red beans (with half of liquid)
4 bay leaves
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/8 cup chili powder
2 (16 oz.) cans diced tomatoes
3 oz. tomato paste
1 jalapeņo pepper (optional)

Brown hamburger and onion in skillet. Pour off excess grease. Combine all ingredients in large pot. Cover; simmer for several hours. (Do not bring to hard boil.) Stir occasionally
