1 C butter or margarine, softened
2 C sugar
2 C applesauce
4 eggs
1/2 C buttermilk
1 lb candy orange slices
2 C chopped pecans
2 C flaked coconut
1 1/2 C candied cherries
1 pkg (8oz) chopped dates
3 2 C flour, divided
1 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 300*
In mixing bowl, cream together butter & sugar. Beat in applesauce, eggs & buttermilk. In a bowl, combine the orange slices, pecans, coconut, cherries, dates & 1 cup of flour; toss to coat. Combine baking soda, salt & remaining flour; add to buttermilk mixture. Fold in orange slice mixture. Pour into a greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake for 1 3/4 - 2 hours or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to wire rack to cool completely.
