1 cup butter or margarine
confectioner's sugar
1/2 teasp. salt
1 teasp. almond extract OR 2 teasp. vanilla extract
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups ground Brazil nuts, pecans, or filberts

One or several days ahead:
Day 1. In a small bowl, with elec. mixer at medium speed beat butter with 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar until creamy. Next. beat in salt, extract, flour & nuts until well blended. Refrigerate dough until eazy to handle.
Day 2 Start heating oven to 350º . With fingers shape dough into 1": balls. Place on cookie sheet, flatten balls with bottom of tumbler dipped in flour.
Bake balls 10-15 minutes or until golden. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar, then remove to cool. Store in container. They keep well.

This recipe was attached to Vera Conway's Butter Cookie Recipe. I asked Joannie about this one, neither of us could figure it out. Joanna wondered if possibly, it was attached because it is similar to the butter cookie recipe. I will have to test this recipe.
