1 cube margarine
1/3 c. flour
1 can evaporated milk
1 can potatoes (whole, not sliced)
1 16 oz. package of frozen peas

Directions:
Directions:
Place peas and potatoes in a large sauce pan with 1 cup of water. Cook until warmed through. Meanwhile, make the white sauce: Melt margarine in large frying pan. Add about 1/3 cup flour and stir until smooth. Add the can of milk and continue stirring. As it thickens, add water, 1/4 cup at a time, until it gets to the "right" consistency. Drain the peas and potatoes, and add the white sauce. Voila!

This was Grandma Daniels' "signature" dish, one that she was famous for and would cook often for us. She told me that her secret was that she always made the white sauce with a silver fork, and never with anything else. So I have always done the same.
