Ingredients:

3 whole eggs(can use 2-3 yolks + 2 whole eggs if you wish)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 cups flour (Pillsbury)
2 cakes yeast (used 1/2 of large 2 oz cake of yeast- could use 2 pkg. of dry yeast)
2 cups milk scalded & cooled to lukewarm
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1/2 cup melted lard
4 1/2 cups more flour

Directions:

1. Put dry ingredients all together in large bowl.
2. Crumble yeast over, add eggs & scalded milk.
3. Mix together with egg beater til smooth
4.Let raise about 30 minutes or until light
5.Then add: melted lard and remaining flour
6.Beat well. ( if dough seems too soft to handle, let stand about 10 minutes before forming into balls.)
7. Form into balls
8.Press down in center to form cavity for filling
9.Fill immediately with filling & let raise about 40 minutes or til light
10. Bake in hot oven (400º 7-10 minutes)

Mrs. Kacere lived behind Bill and & Joanna on 24th Avenue SW in a small little Cape Cod style home. She was quite elderly. Please note: this recipe did not actually include oven temperature nor time. So temp and time are calculated according to other Kolache recipes in this cookbook. This was written on 6 x 9 lined notebook paper. Yellowed with age.
