3 cups sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
whites of 2 eggs
1/2 cup raisins (opt. use Chocolate chips)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve sugar in boiling water. Add corn syrup and boil until a soft ball in cold water forms or 238º on candy thermometer. Add vanilla set aside. Beat egg whites until stiff and slowly pour in the syrup, beating constantly. Beat until it has cooled and add raisens, beating the whole while until the raisens do not settle. Pour into oiled tins and when cool cut in squares. Or can be dropped by rounded tsps onto greased cookie. When cooled store in dry plastic container.

I have made these when the recipe says to pour the liquid in slowly it means to pour in a thin drizzle while beating, to keep the egg whites stiff.
