3-1/2 to 4 pounds yams
4 large cooking apples (McIntosh, Jonathan)
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cube butter
2 cups water
2 Tbsp. cornstarch

Directions:
Directions:
Boil yams until fork goes in easily. Don't overcook. Peel and slice yams and apples in a 9x13" dish. Put a layer of yams, a layer of apples until dish is full.
Make sauce by heating rest of ingredients in a 4 quart saucepan until mixed and thickened slightly. Pour this mixture over yams and apples. Bake at 350º for 30 min.
