Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 2-lb bag of powdered sugar
1 c. Crisco (shortening)
1/2 c. milk
1 t. vanilla
2 T meringue powder

Decorations:
small candy canes & round peppermints
M&Ms
colored candy wafers (usually come in a tube)
coconut
mini marshmallows
pretzel sticks
red licorice whips
frosted mini wheats cereal

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and beat for 20 minutes with an electric mixer. Use this as the "glue" to hold the gingerbread houses together. While working, keep the frosting bowl covered with a damp cloth so it does not start to harden.

This is the same icing that is used to "glue" the candies and other decorations to the houses. I listed some of the items we have used over the years for decorations, but be creative and look for unique items on your own. It's fun for kids to pick out some unique candies for decorating with.

The frosted mini wheats make great shingles for the roofs. Pretzel sticks also look good on the roof. You can also drip the icing along the eves of the house so that it looks like icicles.

Most important of all: Have a great time!
