½ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 ½ cup flour
1 tsp soda
½ tsp salt
1 ¾ cup rolled fine oats
About 1 ½ c. mincemeat

Directions:
Directions:
Work first five ingredients into crumbly mixture.

Put ½ mixture into shallow greased pans (two 8 by 8 pans)
Pat well into place.

Spread with mincemeat. Sprinkle other half of the mixture into place. Pat down firmly.

Bake in a moderate oven, 325 degrees, for 30 minutes, While still warm, cut into bars and remove from pans.
