4 cups water
1 cup of grits
salt to taste
1 lb sausage (browned and drained)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 8 oz cheese
onion (optional) (if added, saute with sausage)
green pepper (optional) (if added, saute with sausage)

Directions:
Directions:
Cook grits in salted water.
Mix grits, sausage and soup in a large bowl.
Lightly grease a 9 x 13 pan. Put grits mixture in pan.
Top with grated cheese
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
This freezes well too. If you freeze it, bake it for 45 minutes.
I like to make two small pans. Eat one and freeze one.

I make this with yellow grits or some type of stone ground grits and I cook them with half milk/half water (if the grits package calls for 4 cups of water, I use 2 cups of water and 2 cups of milk). Also, I add a little minced garlic when I am cooking the sausage. This is truly easy to cook and freeze.
