1 1/3 lbs fresh green beans, trimmed
2 1/2 T. olive oil
2 T. butter
2 cloves, garlic minced
1 1/2 t. coarsely ground black pepper
1/2 c. grated fresh Parmesan cheese
* optional: 2 t. anchovy paste

Directions:
Directions:
Bring large pot of water to boil. Add beans and cook 3 minutes or until crisp tender. (A vegetable steamer is best if available). Drain.
Heat olive oil and butter in large skillet on medium heat. Add garlic. Cook and stir 1 minute. Stir in lemon juice and anchovy paste until well blended. Stir in beans and coat thoroughly with sauce. Season with black pepper and Parmesan cheese.

This is close to cousin Sandy's green bean dish (a staple at our family Thanksgiving meals in Arizona), as I could get! Sandy never measured anything, so a "little of this" a "little of that" was all I could get out of her!
The anchovy paste is not from Sandy - this was borrowed from a bean dish I had once - it gives the beans a little different flavor!
