Ingredients: 1 1/3 lbs fresh green beans, trimmed 2 1/2 T. olive oil 2 T. butter 2 cloves, garlic minced 1 1/2 t. coarsely ground black pepper 1/2 c. grated fresh Parmesan cheese * optional: 2 t. anchovy paste

Directions:Bring large pot of water to boil. Add beans and cook 3 minutes or until crisp tender. (A vegetable steamer is best if available). Drain. Heat olive oil and butter in large skillet on medium heat. Add garlic. Cook and stir 1 minute. Stir in lemon juice and anchovy paste until well blended. Stir in beans and coat thoroughly with sauce. Season with black pepper and Parmesan cheese. |

Notes: This is close to cousin Sandy's green bean dish (a staple at our family Thanksgiving meals in Arizona), as I could get! Sandy never measured anything, so a "little of this" a "little of that" was all I could get out of her! The anchovy paste is not from Sandy - this was borrowed from a bean dish I had once - it gives the beans a little different flavor!
