1/2 c. butter
3 1/4 c flour
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tbsp. anise seed crushed or 1 tsp. extract
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. lemon peel, shredded
2 tsp. orange peel, shredded

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, beat butter 30 seconds. Add 1 1/4 c. flour, sugar, eggs, anis seed and baking powder. Beat thoroughly. Stir in peels and remaining flour. Divid dough inhalf. Shape each half into 11 " loaf. Place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly to 11 x 2 x 1 " loaf.
Bake 375 degrees 20-25 mins.
Cool on cookie sheet about 1 hour. cut each loaf diagonally into 1/2" slices. Lay slices, cut side down, on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 325 degrees for 10 mins, turn and bake 10-15 mins.
Remove & Cool.
