5 lbs. flour minus 2 cups
6 cups milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 lb butter room temperature
1 Tbsp salt
1 large cake of yeast
4 beaten eggs
2 Tbsp. vanilla
dash Nutmeg
1 Box of golden raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Bring milk and sugar to a boil in a large pot. Cool until luke warm. Mix yeast with 2 tablespoons of warm milk (mixture from above), 1 teaspoon sugar, teaspoon of flour in a large coffee cup and let rise. Add salt, vanilla, nutmeg, eggs and yeast mixture to cooled milk. Mix well. Add flour a little at a time. Add butter 1/4 lb at a time and blend in. Cover and let stand 1.5 to two hours. Dough will double in size. Put in greased pans 3/4 full. Cover and let stand for 30 to 45 minutes. Brush with beaten egg and bake at 350º preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Makes 6 to 7 loaves.

I put my raisins in a small pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil to plump them. Drain.
