1 stick butter
3 1/2 T cocoa
1/2 cup lard or shortening
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp soda

ICING:
1 stick oleo
3 1/2 T cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400 degrees.

In pan heat to boil butter, cocoa, shortening, and water. Pour over sugar and flour. Add eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, and soda.

Bake for 30 minutes.

While the cake bakes, in a pan heat to boiling oleo, cocoa, and milk. Take off the stove and add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts (optional) Mix well. Pour over hot cake.
