1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 small eggs
1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup milk
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla, add eggs and beat thoroughly. Alternately add milk and flour, which has been sifted with baking powder and salt. Bake in 375 degree oven 30-35 minutes.

This is the recipe that was on the paper that came in mother's heart shaped cake pan. She would double the recipe to make a 2 layer cake. She made pink frosting to ice it. This is the cake she made at valentine's every year when I was little.
