1-1/3 c. butter
5-1/3 c. sugar or 3/4 c. sugar and 2-3/4 tsp. Equal
8 eggs
2 c. applesauce
2 c. cooked or canned pumpkin
6-2/3 c. flour
1 T. and 1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 T. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground mace
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1-1/3 c. apple juice
2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in applesauce and pumpkin. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and spices. Add to creamed mixture alternately with apple juice. Stir only until ingredients are moistened. Stir in nuts. Turn batter into 4 greased 9x5x3 in. pans. Bake in 350 degree oven, for 1 hour, or until tester inserted in center of loaf comes out clean. Remove to rack to cool. Yield: 4 loaves (98 oz.)
