3 eggs
3 cups brown sugar
and 1 tablespoon of vanilla
2 ¼ cups flour
¾ tsp. salt
¾ tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Beat wet ingredients until smooth. Then add dry ingredients. Then add 3c chopped walnuts. Spread out in greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 375 degrees about 20 minutes.Check them at 15 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cut into squares while still warm.Frost with caramel frosting if desired

One night back when we lived on Cibola Way there was a knock at my door. When I opened it there was my sister Vyondelle with a plate of cookies. She said, “Here,” smiled, and left me with these wonderful hot cookies I have always called nutty chews, and I have made them ever since. That must have been about 1962
