1 lb plate boil plus a soup bone if available
medium onion -----whole
celery tops
green bell pepper
water-enough to cover meat
cook slowly for several hours

strain liquid
put meat and bone back into mixture and add
1 1/2 cups diced white potatoes
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped cabbage

cook slowly for 1 1/2 to 2 hours

a can or two of whole or chopped tomatoes

Add bag of frozen vegetables (whole kernel corn, peas, green and/or yellow string beans).

cook gently for another 1/2 hour and allow to cool slowly so vegetables don't get mushy.


You may have to add water during cooking as it reduces. Your Mother used to buy the large 2 lb bags of mixed vegetables
