1/2 c. chopped dates
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk

Sauce:
3/4 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together dates, brown sugar, salt, flour, baking powder and milk, and place in large greased cake pan 10"x10"x 1 1/2" or so. Mix sauce and pour over the batter in the pan. Sprinkle with pecans or black walnuts, chopped, over the topping. Bake 1/2 hr. 350º. Serve with whipped cream.
