2 T extra virgin olive oil
2 lbs country style pork ribs
2 granny smith apples, cored and thinly sliced
1 bag (16oz) fresh sauerkraut
1/2 c brown sugar
1 T garlic powder
1 T onion powder
1 T freshly ground pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ribs in 2 batches and brown on all sides. Transfer to a 4 quart or large slow cooker.
Layer sliced apples, then sauerkraut (with juice) over ribs in slow cooker. Sprinkle remaining ingredients over sauerkraut. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours. Stir before serving.

I use very generously the garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar.
You can serve it over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
This recipe came from the Indianpolis Star and people that don't like sauerkraut have even enjoyed this recipe!
Fresh sauerkraut is found in the refrigerated case near brats and sausages.
