1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/3 cup dark karo syrup
6 T butter
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 t vanilla
1/8 t salt
2 cups pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugars and syrup, cook over medium heat stirring constantly to the firm ball stage (200º) Stir in butter as you stir add milk slowly so that the mixture continues to boil. Cook again to 245-248 degrees and remove from heat add vanilla and salt.
Pour into a greased 15x9x3 inch pan cool until firm. Spread nuts on top of caramel and roll jelly roll style in wax paper.
Slice and wrap if you want to.

This was Aunt Emma Goebel's Recipe. She didn't want to share it, but she wanted to make caramels for Christmas gifts for her friends, and she was having trouble seeing the recipe. So she gave the recipe to my mom (Betty Sinclair), So she could make the caramels for her, to give to her friends.
