1/2 recipe pie dough
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. melted butter or margarine
3 egg whites, slightly beaten

Line a deep 9 inch pie pan with pie dough rolled to 1/8 inch thickness. Trim and crimp edges. Combine sugar, flour and salt: blend thoroughly. Beat egg yolks slightly, add buttermilk, vanilla and butter which has been melted and cooled. Add, gradually to dry ingredients and blend thoroughly. Fold in slightly beaten egg whites gently, but thoroughly. Pour into prepared unbaked pie shell and bake at 375º for 45 minutes, or until silver knife inserted come out clean.
