2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 cup grated apple
1/2 to 1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Add shredded, peeled apples and nuts. Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13 pan at 350º for 40-45 minutes. Make sauce of 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup whipping cream, 1/2 cup butter. Bring to boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

I have doubled the sauce for more generous servings. Good served on warm cake. Hot Sauce.
