French Toast Bake Recipe

12 slices day-old French or Italian bread (cut 1" thick)
5 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1 cup packed brown sugar, divided
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash nutmeg
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter (melted)
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

Arrange bread in greased 13"x9" pan. In a bowl, combine milk, eggs, 3/4 cup brown sugar, vanilla and spices. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnights (or 8 hours).

Remove from refrigerator and let rest 30 minutes before baking. Then sprinkle pecans over bread/egg mixture. Combine melted butter and remaining brown sugar. Drizzle over top of bread/egg mixture. Bake uncovered at 400º for 25 minutes. Sprinkle blueberries on top and bake another 10 minutes.
