1-1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp.soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 squares baking chocolate
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. nut meats

Frosting:

1-1/2 c powdered sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
Hot water

Directions:

Cream shortening, add sugar, salt and vanilla. Cream well. Add egg and melted chocolate. beat well. Sift flour, baking powder and soda together, add nuts. Add nuts and dry ingredients alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto oiled cookie sheets. Bake at 375º. Remove from sheets to cooling rack and frost while warm.

Frosting--Melt butter, add powdered sugar sifted with cocoa. Add vanilla. Gradually add hot water until of spreading consistency.
