per batch; 1 3/4 cups sugar, 1/2 cup of white Karo syrup, 1/2 cup of water (5 lbs of sugar makes 6 batches. One quart of Karo is more than enough) food colorings as desired and flavorings as desired. (such as peppermint, spearmint, almond, butterscotch, lemon )

Before beginning, grease a pair of kitchen shears and dip them in sugar to keep from sticking. You will need a piece of marble to pour the hot candy onto. I think you grease it too. Boil the sugar, Karo and water to 290 degrees. remove from heat. Add food coloring and 1 tsp fllavoring per batch. Pour onto greased marble slab. Fold over. Will be hot! Cut with scissors in to strips about 1 inch wide and then cut strips into pillows about 3/4 in wide. when cool, roll in xxx sugar. Always match up your color with a particular flavoring.
