Cake
• 1 C beer
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 ¼ C sugar
• ½ C oil
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp cocoa
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 oz red food coloring
• 2 C flour

Flag white frosting

• 1 ½ C milk
• 2 TBSP flour
• 1 ½ C sugar
• 1 ½ C butter
• 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
For Cake: Mix 1 TBSP beer with baking soda and let settle. In a mixing bowl, beat shortening, sugar, eggs, salt, cocoa, vanilla and red food coloring until light. Alternately beat in the flour and beer. Stir in the dissolved baking soda and pour into a tube pan. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Frost with flag white frosting.

Frosting: Blend milk and flour in a small saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until thick. Cool, then beat the sugar, butter, and the vanilla until fluffy. Add the cooked mixture one tsp at a time while beating on high speed until smooth. It should be like whipped cream.
