1 cup white or whole wheat flour, or a combination of both
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
1/2 cup melted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. water
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Mix flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside. In a mixing bowl, beat butter, sugars, water, and vanilla until well blended. Stir in flour mixture. Beat until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop by tablespoon, 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes, depending on desired crispness. Cool on pan for 3 minutes then transfer to cooling rack.
