1 cup scalded milk
8 tbsp butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cardamom
5 1/3 cups flour
2 tbsp yeast
1/3 cup warm water
2/3 cup raisins
2/3 cups citron
Glaze:
Confectionery sugar
1-2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
sliced almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in milk that has been scalded and let cool. Mix water and yeast until dissolved. Stir in eggs and sugar until smooth. add flour, salt, and cardamom small amounts at a time. When complete stir in raisins and citron. Knead well. Let rise until doubled in size, then shape into braids or circular loaves. Let rise again until doubled. Cook at 350º for 35-45 minutes. While bread is warm brush on icing.
