1 loaf unsliced hearty bread
1 cup butter, softened
1/8 cup minced chives
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp prepared mustard
2 tsp poppy seeds
8 slices Swiss cheese
8 slices bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled (or real bacon pieces)
3/4 tsp grated lemon peel
1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:
Slice bread into 9 pieces without cutting all the way through to bottom crust. Set aside.
Beat butter in medium bowl with electric mixer until fluffy.
Add chives, lemon juice, mustard, poppy seed, lemon peel, and pepper. Blend well; remove 3 Tbsp mixture, set aside.
Spread remaining mixture on cut surfaces of bread.
Place a slice of cheese between each bread slice. Sprinkle bacon pieces.
Spread reserved lemon and butter mixture on top and side of bread loaf.
Bake 15-20 minutes at 350º. Serve immediately.
