1 cup onion, finely chopped
1 cup celery, finely chopped
2 cups potatoes, diced
2 cans minced clams
3/4 cups butter (not margarine)
3/4 cups flour
1 pint half n' half
2 cups whole milk
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot, place onion, celery, and the juice from the 2 cans of clams. Add just enough water to barely cover vegetables. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat for 20 minutes.
In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in flour until smooth. Add both milks and stir constantly over medium high heat until thick and just starting to boil. Pour white sauce over the undrained vegetable. Stir in salt, pepper and sugar and heat well but do not boil.
