Add grated onion to meat mixture. Soften bread in milk and add to meat. Mix well. Add remainder of ingredients. Add cream a little at a time. Stir well after each addition.
Fry the balls in a heated skillet with shortening. The meatballs are placed on the pan with a spoon that has been dipped in the hot fat each time. Fry the meatballs until light brown.
Make a gravy to serve with the balls by adding more meat juice or broth to the pan in which the balls were fried and thickening the gravy with flour which has been stirred out more stock or cream
