2 bags mustard greens
1 bag turnip greens
6 cups water
3 or 4 ham hocks
6 slices salt pork
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. bacon drippings
12 pickled jalapeņo pepper slices (optional but good)

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and stem greens. This takes about an hour or more! Boil ham hocks and salt pork in water about 15 minutes. Add sugar, salt and bacon drippings. Gradually add greens letting cook down until all have been added. Add jalapeņo peppers and cook about 1 1/2 hours or until tender.

Preparing and cooking greens is a real act of love, and one that Mama Polly was always happy to do for us. She would even make these and freeze them for Lisa, Pollianne, and me.
