1/4 lb lard, softened
1/4 lb butter, softened
8 c sifted flour
1 T salt
2 T sugar
2 T baking powder
1/2 lb American cheese, grated
2 1/2 c milk
1 egg yolk
1 T light cream

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. In a large mixing bowl, use a pastry cutter to work lard and butter into flour until coarse. Add salt, sugar, baking powder, and cheese and mix thoroughly. Slowly add milk, stirring until mixture is of biscuit dough consistency. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 3/4 inch thickness. Use a sharp knife to cut dough into 2X3 inch diamond shapes. Place biscuits on greased baking sheet. Make an egg wash by beating egg yolk and cream together lightly. Brush wash atop biscuits and bake until lightly browned, about 25 minutes. makes 36 biscuits.
