4 c. flour
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
6 Tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. raisins
1 Tbsp. caraway seeds
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease a round 2-quart baking dish.

2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda with a fork. With knife or pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly; add raisins and caraway seeds.

3. In small bowl, beat eggs, remove 1 tablespoon of egg and save. Stir buttermilk into eggs, then stir into flour mixture until moist. Turn dough onto well-floured surface, knead 10 strokes. Shape dough into ball; place in baking dish. Cut a cross in center and brush with reserved egg mixture. Bake approximately 1 hour. Cool on rack for 20 minutes.
