2 cups flour
1 ½ cup sugar
½ cup shortening
1 cup buttermilk
1 ½ teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together and cook at 350 degrees in two 9 inch for 30 minutes

Frost with icing:
1 ½ cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon flour or ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
Cook until it forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat 2 egg whites, combine with cooked mixture and frost cake.
