Ingredients: 1 C butter, softened 1 1/2 C powdered sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp almond extract 2 1/2 C flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cream of tartar Colored sugar sprinkles

Directions: |
Directions:Mix thoroughly butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in dry ingredients. Cover and chill 2 to 3 hours. Roll dough on floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Keep dough that is not being rolled in refrigerator. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Using a spatula transfer the cookies to ungreased baking sheets. Decorate as desired with colored sugar. Bake at 375º 6 to 9 minutes until light brown on edge. If over cooked they will be very crispy. |

Notes: When I make these for the holidays I triple the recipe. What seems to work best for cooling all of those cookies is an opened up paper grocery bag. Once cooled I store in large plastic/lidded containers until I am ready to serve or give as gifts.
