1 loaf French Bread, but in 1 inch slices
8 large eggs
2 C. milk
2 C. Half & Half
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 C. butter, softened
1 1/2 C .brown sugar
3 Tbsp. dark corn syrup
1 1/3 C. coarse chopped pecans or walnuts

Heavily butter a 9 x 13 pan. Fill pan with bread slices to within 1/2 inch from the top. Only one layer and set aside. In a blender, mix eggs, milk, Half & Half, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Pour mixture over bread. Refrigerate overnight covered. Make topping by combining butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and nuts. Set aside until time to bake. Spread topping over toast and bake for 50 minutes at 350º or until puffed and golden brown. Shield top with foil if top browns to quickly. Yields 8-10 servings.
