1 pkg. dry yeast
4 Tbsp. warm water
5 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 Tbsp. baking powder
2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter (for dipping)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add yeast and water mixture to buttermilk. Stir liquids into dry ingredients.
Roll out onto floured surface about 1/2" thick. Cut with a cookie or bisquit cutter of 2 1/2" circle. Dip one side in melted butter.
Place biscuits on a cookie sheet and bake at 425º for 15 minutes.
Biscuits can be froze and stored in baggies. It is not necessary to thaw before baking.
