Directions:Combine 1/2 C water, 1 tsp sugar and yeast. Let rise for 10 minutes. In a large bowl put 1/2 C sugar, margarine, salt, vinegar and water. Add risen yeast mixture. Add flour and knead until mixed well. Add more flour if dough is sticky.
Grease a large bowl and add dough, cover it with a tea towel and place in a warm location. Let rise for 2 hours. Punch down dough in bowl and let rise again for 1 more hour.
Knead dough and form into buns the size of a large crab apple. Place them on a greased dark colored cookie sheet. Leave some space between buns but not lots because buns will rise again but they bake better if they are touching each other. Cover with a tea towel again and place in a cold oven with the light turned on. The light gives enough warmth for the buns to rise. Rise for 3 hours.
Take the buns out of the oven and preheat oven to 400 º. Bake buns for about 12-15 minutes. Buns are done when they are golden brown and sound hollow if you tap on them. Cover the tops of the warm buns with butter or margarine. Makes approximately 4 dozen buns. |

Notes: My Mom makes these because she inherited a bowl from her grandma which grandma always used for buns, so she inherited the recipe also.
