Ingredients:  
1.5 lbs pork spareribs or hocks
4-5 cups water
1 tsp salt
1 quart sauerkraut
1/4 cup pot or pearl barley
1 small onion
pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Cook hocks for 1/2 hour strain liquid
Return to pot and add quart sauerkraut
Add pearl barley and let cook one more hour or until meat and kraut is tender
One half hour before it is done, slice in a small onion and dash of pepper
If liquid boils out - keep adding water if it tastes flat, add more salt
Serve with potatoes
