2 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 tsp sugar
2/3 C shortening
2 egg yolks
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 C light cream or half & half
6 C sliced pealed pears
2/3 C sugar
2 Tbsp tapioca
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp salt
1 Tbsp butter

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together first five ingredients. Mix until in fine crumbs. Beat together egg yolks, vanilla and cream. Add to flour mixture. Stir to make soft dough. Wrap and chill crust 30 minutes. Combine pears, sugar, tapioca, cloves and salt. Let stand 15 minutes. Roll out 2/3 of the chilled dough. Put in 9 inch pie pan. Fill with pear mixture and dot with butter. Put 1/2 inch strips of pie crust (lattice) on top. Bake 375º for 1 hour.
