Cake:

1/2 lb butter
1/2 c Crisco
3 c sugar
7 large eggs (room temperature)
1 1/2 t salt
3 1/2 c of Swansdown cake flour
3/4 c milk
4 t lemon extract
1/4 t almond extract (optional)

Frosting:

1 1/2 c 10x powdered sugar
4 T lemon juice
grated rind of one lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, Crisco and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well. Alternate flour and milk. Beat slowly until well mixed. Grease and flour tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours on 300º. Make frosting by beating sugar, lemon juice and lemon rind together. If it frosting is too thin add more sugar to thicken.

This is a perfect pound cake recipe...I use butter flavored Crisco instead of regular Crisco. I also use different flavorings from time to time. This recipe has never failed me!
